It Started With Hundreds of Conversations

After returning to Pakistan from Dubai, I began working from home as an AI consultant. My work involved long hours behind a computer — learning new technologies, advising companies and trying to remain current in an industry that changes almost every day.

Professionally, life was moving forward. Socially, my world had become much smaller.

I had family around me, but being surrounded by people is not the same as having somewhere to speak openly. Family relationships can carry expectations, responsibilities and history. There were parts of my life I did not always feel ready to discuss with someone who already knew me.

After spending an entire day working from home, I often needed to get out. I began visiting cafés around Lahore, including places near Mall 1 — not to network, sell something or look for a relationship, but simply to be around other people.

Eventually, I began starting conversations.

The Conversations That Changed the Idea

Some conversations lasted only a few minutes. Some people were distracted, uninterested or more focused on their phones.

Others stayed for an hour or longer.

The difference was not necessarily education, income or professional status. It was presence. The most meaningful conversations happened when neither person was performing. The phone stayed away. Questions came from genuine curiosity. Disagreement did not become disrespect. Silence did not feel like rejection.

Because these people were outside my family, work and social circles, I sometimes found it easier to speak honestly. I did not have to protect a professional image or explain years of personal history. I could speak about what I believed, what I was questioning, where I had made mistakes and what I had not yet understood.

Often, the other person began opening up too.

People shared experiences involving relationships, family pressure, work, loneliness, confidence, regret and difficult decisions. Some practised an upcoming presentation or tried to explain a business idea. Others simply wanted to put a confusing thought into words.

These conversations taught me not to measure a person by their clothes, occupation, income or social-media profile. Someone whose life appears ordinary from the outside may have knowledge, experience and perspective you would never have expected.

The Question Behind Suno Lahore

Over approximately two years, I continued having these conversations and asking people about the experience.

Some told me they had rarely spoken so openly with someone they had just met. Others suggested that I create a more intentional way for people to experience this kind of conversation.

The answer could not simply be, "Put two random people in a room." My experiences also taught me that not every stranger is attentive, respectful or suitable for a personal conversation. Some people bring judgment, unwanted intentions or an inability to respect boundaries.

Suno Lahore exists because the valuable part of speaking with a stranger needs structure around it.

From a Chance Encounter to a Structured Experience

Suno Lahore brings two verified adults together for one carefully arranged conversation. One participant joins as the Sharer and receives the space to speak. The other joins as the Listener and agrees to offer respectful attention without judgment, interruption or unsolicited advice.

The purpose is not to manufacture a perfect human connection. No application, algorithm or organiser can guarantee chemistry. The purpose is to reduce obvious incompatibility and create reasonable conditions for a private, respectful conversation.

Why Careful Matching Matters

The original café conversations happened by chance. Suno Lahore tries to make compatibility more intentional.

Applicants tell us:

• What they may want to discuss
• What they do not want to discuss
• Which language feels most natural
• How they prefer to communicate
• What kind of listening they want
• What emotional intensity feels manageable
• Which boundaries must be respected

Listeners independently identify the topics and listening styles they feel prepared to support. A potential match is considered only where these preferences reasonably overlap. Every match is reviewed by a human organiser.

During the pilot, matching will be based primarily on structured application information and human judgment. Participant feedback will help us understand which factors improve the experience. We will not claim that AI can identify a "perfect match." Technology may assist with organising compatibility information, but it does not replace consent, human review or responsible decision-making.

Why Participation Is Paid

Participants are not paying someone to care about them. They are not purchasing friendship or therapy. The participation fee supports the structure surrounding the conversation:

Applications can be submitted without payment. A participation fee is requested only after approval and when a suitable session is available. The complete price, cancellation conditions and refund policy are shown before a participant confirms their booking.

Built as a Pilot, Not Presented as a Finished Answer

Suno Lahore is being introduced carefully. We are not assuming that every person will want this experience or that every match will work perfectly. The initial sessions will help us evaluate:

• Whether Sharers feel heard and respected
• Whether Listeners understand their responsibilities
• Whether boundaries are followed
• Whether the matching criteria are appropriate
• Whether the venue and privacy arrangements feel safe
• What should be improved before future sessions

After every session, both participants submit private feedback. Safety reports are reviewed separately from ordinary satisfaction feedback. The goal is not to defend the original idea at any cost. The goal is to learn whether it can be delivered responsibly and whether participants find genuine value in it.

Why I Believe It Is Worth Trying Once

Not every conversation will produce clarity. Not every participant will leave feeling transformed.

But an hour without a phone, social performance or the pressure to impress someone can be rare.

For a Sharer, the value may be hearing their own thoughts clearly for the first time. For a Listener, the value may be discovering how much another person carries behind an ordinary appearance.

And sometimes, the value is simply having another human being remain present while you speak.

That possibility is why I started Suno Lahore.
